Lost in the many things happening early this year was the first anniversary of MLBN, which has proved to be a total boon for baseball lovers. It's simply amazing how good the network has become in almost no time at all. Till now the folks there have deftly avoided bludgeoning us, a la ESPN, with Yankees-Red Sox, Yankees-Red Sox, Yankees-Red Sox. Let's hope that the addition of Peter Gammons does not change that.
I was out when the HOF announcement was made and only caught it on the fly. I kept waiting for Roberto Alomar's name to appear, would have thought he was a shoo-in. It only goes to show that baseball writers too veer down the same path as fans, turning selections into popularity contests.
