bits and pieces

Brett Myers signed this week with the Astros, adding to the growing list of ex-Phillies (Michael Bourn, Pedro Feliz, etc.) who have found a home in Houston. Maybe it's a good place for Myers, who had hip surgery last summer, to restart his career. One thing we know, he's sure to come back to beat up his old team, too. The Astros always seem to have the Phillies' number.

Jamie Moyer is still battling a blood infection, which is delaying the procedure on his knee. That means that Moyer will not be ready for opening day. So, who will be the fifth starter?

Righty reliever Clay Condrey has signed with Minnesota. Another cog in the bullpen gone. Speaking of the bullpen, who is going to step it up this year?

Reliever Chad Durbin has signed a one-year deal. That leaves Carlos Ruiz, Shane Victorino, and Joe Blanton on the arbitration-eligible list.

For one night at least, the Sixers held on in Detroit last night to reverse their dismal trend of building big leads early in games and blowing them late.
