Another altered card I made, this one for opening night in Philadelphia, now two weeks away.Chan Ho Park, who tearfully declined to play for Korea in the WBC, must be ecstatic. Last night Korea crushed Venezuela 10-2, in a game that was over before it had barely begun. Carlos Silva (never walks a guy, we were told) walked the first batter, then Bobby Abreu dropped a dead-easy flyout and compounded that error with a bad throw to second. The crisp Koreans capitalized on every Venezuelan miscue. By the end of the 2nd, Venezuela had three errors and Korea was up 7-0. The first two innings took an hour to play and I drifted off to bed at that point. This WBC might just have been the coming-out party for Korean baseball. Their fans were rocking Chavez Ravine.
