iverson back in philadelphia

I got home yesterday in time to catch the Allen Iverson press conference at the Wachovia Center. What a stunner it turned out to be, but really should I have expected anything less from A.I., who always holds great pressers. The stunner really was that he broke down almost immediately, not just in tears but in sobs, because he was back again in Philadelphia, the place he considers to be home. I think it caught everyone, including A.I, by surprise. If Iverson is hoping to revisit his youth in the town that he loves, I doubt that that is happening. I hope rather that his current stint with the Sixers plays out well and that he ultimately retires here, which is how he should go out.

I missed the Placido Polanco presser, held a couple of hours earlier, but caught snippets on the news. Polly looked lighthearted and happy to be back in Philadelphia, with a chance to win. He said that he had never wanted to leave in the first place, nor had his family. His son, he said, continued to wear his old Phillies' jersey while the family was in Detroit.
