castillo cut

The short-lived Luis Castillo experiment is over. Despite his improved play in recent games, the former Met was released by the Phillies earlier today. Maybe being a late show last week after his acquisition did him in. Charlie Manuel has been singing the praises of Rule Five guy Michael Martinez, said to have made the team. While a defensive adept, Martinez does not dazzle at the plate. Let pitching and defense rule.

Astro starter (and former Phillie) J.A. Happ injured his oblique in an exhibition game last night. This is sad news as Happ has had chronic oblique problems. He was was to start on Sunday in Philadelphia.
